Why go
Stanage is the postcard. It is also a working crag: busy, brilliant, and unforgiving if you treat it like a gym. The Plantation and Popular areas are where most boulderers land. The rock is perfect when it’s in, and a soapy joke when it isn’t.
Conditions
Same grit rules as the rest of the Peak. A dry week in October–March is gold. Summer can still work on a breeze if you chase shade. If the holds look dark, they’re not dry yet.
Getting there
Plantation car park for the bouldering heartland; Popular if you want the classic edge ramble. Pay and display, walk the path, don’t cut new lines through the heather. Hathersage is the café / chippy basecamp. Access: BMC RAD.
Where to start
